A few days left to apply - Making results count: Translating independent China research into actionable recommendations
If you conduct research on China and want to learn how to translate your work into actionable recommendations, apply for this year's CHERN Training School. Organised by CHERN and the Skema Business School, the event takes place on 15 March (online) and on 4-5 April (Paris). The focus of the training school is to empower early career researchers to increase the policy impact of their research. Special attention is paid to identify policy relevant results of the trainees’ research on contemporary China and how to turn those into actionable recommendations. The program of the training school includes skills workshops, practical group exercises, and encounters with policymakers and senior China experts. In addition, the training school provides the participants with a platform to connect with peers in academia and think tanks from different European countries.

Activities by CHERN members
ReConnect MOOCs: Introduction to Chinese politics and society and EU-China RelationsTwo free online certificate courses offered in collaboration with leading European institutions of Chinese studies have been launched as part of the EU-project ReConnect China. CHERN member Outi Luova is in charge of the execution of the courses, which are open to everyone who wants to understand China’s development and EU-China relations. In particular, they are prepared for European students, but also civil servants, journalists, teachers and alike will benefit from taking them.
Two courses are currently running:
Introduction to Chinese Politics and Society Course period in 2024: January 15 – May 12
Introduction to EU-China Relations Course period in 2024: February 12 – June 16 And two more are planned for the autumn of 2024 - Introduction to Chinese Economy and Introduction to Chinese Popular Culture.
