NEW: Rapid Short term scientific missions 

Are you a scholar doing research related to China-in-Europe with an idea for a collaboration you'd like to explore more? Check out CHERN's Rapid Short Term Scientific Mission opportunities!

Rapid STSMs are short duration research visits to establish or deepen research collaboration between the STSM applicant and the host. They typically take place during several research-intensive days at the host institution (max. duration 5 days). Read the full call for more details and instructions how to apply.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

“China’s Digital Power and its Implications for the European Union” – WG2 virtual workshop

CHERN’s Working Group 2 (High technology and innovation) in collaboration with the Digital Power China (DPC) research consortium is inviting you to a series of five virtual workshop sessions that bring together technical experts (computer scientists, engineers), China scholars, and EU policymakers. 

14-18 June 2021
daily from 9:00-10:00 AM Brussels Time; 3:00-4:00 PM Beijing Time.

"China FinTech: from 0 to 1" - WG 3 Webinar

WG 3 is organizing a Webinar about the Chinese FinTech industry. Mr. Greg Au-Yeung, Fintech expert and senior advisor at Fudan University, will provide insights into the initial development and current growth of the Chinese FinTech industry. He will explain, local regulations & how they stimulate the entire industry advances. An overview of China's FinTech industry will be specified together with the key drivers of success. Collaboration be-tween Chinese and international fintech is explained, as well as synergies with Europe-based fintech players. The webinar will be hosted by Anna Lupina-Wegener.

Reminder for CHERN Online Series Research Highlights

‌

The 3rd Research Highlights event in our Online Series is a presentation titled "Careful or Careless? Central and Eastern Europe’s position on China and 5G" by Dr Ivana Karaskova. Ivana is Founder and Leader of MapInfluenCE and China Observers in Central and Eastern Europe (CHOICE) projects and an in-house China Research Fellow at the Association for International Affairs (AMO) in Prague, Czech Republic.
