Positive review of CHERN by COST Rapporteur

| |
The progress of the CHERN Action has been positively reviewed by the Action Rapporteur. Despite the limitations of the pandemic, CHERN has grown tremendously in numbers and reach. This is thanks to the efforts of our Core Group members as well as some active Working Group members who organized online meetings and webinars and thanks to your participation and contributions during these events. As part of the Virtual Strategy, Core Group members initiated several successful online activities like the CHERN Online Series and Virtual Mobility Grants. We were able to facilitate 1-1 cooperation through STSMs where possible, with an exciting batch of STSMs coming up. In combination with our ‘excellent’-graded, CHERN website, our Action was able to grow into what it is now. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those hard working members who made this happen, and we thank all our members for participating in the China in Europe Research Network. In short, we are extremely proud of all these achievements and we are looking forward to grow further in the final two years of this COST Action. Most importantly, we hope for a lot more in-person knowledge exchange on Chinese engagements with Europe now that many of the pandemic travel restrictions have been loosened. In this newsletter you will read about CHERNs upcoming activities as well as recent past activities, achievements and activities of our members. CHERN bar: Clash of Emprires?
| |
The Working Group 4 (Public diplomacy and knowledge production) CHERN bar has been designed to become a regular "discussion forum", i.e. informal platform of exchange. The idea is to select a stimulating (academic or non-academic) publication and talk or even debate about it among us in a relaxed atmosphere. The event is not strictly moderated, and there is no presentation, just whatever we bring to the table on the given topic. The CHERN bar is open for registered CHERN members, who are notified about the events via e-mail. The upcoming CHERN bar will be organized in May 2022, where we will discuss prof. Ho-fung Hung's new book Clash of Empires.
